Handling ozone safely: why destructors matter
Ozone is a strong oxidiser. Here is how a well-designed system keeps it where it belongs.

Ozone is powerful, which is the point
The same strong oxidising power that makes ozone such an effective disinfectant means it must be handled properly. A good system makes ozone where it is needed, delivers it into the process, and deals with whatever is left over.
Carry it in the right materials
Ozone gas is carried in ozone-resistant PTFE (Teflon) tubing, and a non-return valve stops water flowing back into the gas line.
Destroy the off-gas
Not all ozone dissolves. Leftover ozone gas should pass through an ozone destructor before it is released. Servo Ozone's OD-Series destructors convert ozone back into oxygen by catalytic reaction, with manganese dioxide (MnO₂) as the catalyst, so no complicated process is needed.
Destructors are compact and energy-efficient, and are designed to be added easily to existing ozone systems.
Follow the operating guidance
For air treatment in rooms, washrooms and vehicles, always follow the operating guidance supplied with your unit.
