Application07
Washing produce in ozonated water disinfects it without chemical residues, helps break down some pesticide residues, and extends shelf life by reducing spoilage microbes.
The problem
Conventional chemical sanitisers can leave residues of their own behind.
How ozone helps
An ozone generator makes ozone on site, using an electrical discharge to turn oxygen (O₂) into ozone (O₃). Dissolved in the wash water, ozone oxidises microbes on the produce and in the water.
It also breaks down some pesticides and chemical residues on the surface of vegetables into simpler, less harmful molecules, and then reverts to harmless oxygen.
Benefits06
Disinfection without chemical residue, for fresher, safer vegetables.
Ozone breaks down into oxygen without producing hazardous by-products.
Effective disinfection of fruit and vegetables at the washing stage.
Lowering the microbial load on surfaces can extend shelf life.
Helps break down and remove some pesticide and chemical residues.
Eliminates bacteria, viruses and other pathogens on the surface.
Recommended products
The right model depends on your flow, contact time and ozone demand. We can test first and size the system to your plant. [Model match: to confirm]
Questions
Ozone can break down and help remove some pesticide and chemical residues on the surface of produce, by oxidising them into simpler, less harmful molecules.
No. Ozone breaks down into oxygen, leaving no chemical residue.
Reducing the number of spoilage microbes on the surface and in the wash water can extend shelf life.
