Ozone disinfection for sewage treatment plants

The problem
Treated sewage can still carry bacteria, viruses and protozoa, along with colour, smell and a heavy organic load.
Chlorine-based disinfection can form potentially harmful disinfection by-products in the water it treats.
How ozone helps
Ozone breaks down the cell walls and genetic material of pathogens, leaving them inactive and unable to cause illness. It oxidises the compounds that give sewage its colour and smell, and it reduces chemical and organic contaminants.
Afterwards it turns into oxygen and leaves no toxic residue in the water. Our in-house R&D team works on industrial and municipal effluents to develop treatment schemes using ozone and other advanced oxidation processes.
