Oxygen concentrators and compressors for ozone generators
Why feed gas matters, what an “ozone concentrator” really is, and why oil-free compressors are worth it.

Feed gas decides output
An ozone generator can only make ozone from the oxygen it is given. Air is about one-fifth oxygen; concentrated oxygen is mostly oxygen. Fed with oxygen, the same generator produces a higher ozone concentration, which helps where ozone has to dissolve into a lot of water quickly.
What people mean by “ozone concentrator”
The phrase usually refers to the oxygen concentrator that sits in front of an ozone generator. The concentrator supplies oxygen; the generator turns it into ozone. Servo Ozone's Oxy oxygen concentrator does the first job, at 5 or 10 litres per minute.
Why the compressor should be oil-free
Many generators take in air through a compressor. Oil carried over from a lubricated compressor contaminates the feed gas and the electrodes. Oil-free compressors avoid that, and they are quieter, lighter and quick to start, which is why most Servo Ozone generators, and Oxy, use them.
Keeping feed gas dry and clean
Moisture and dust both reduce ozone output and shorten electrode life.
- Filter the intake air (Oxy uses primary, HEPA and bacterial filters)
- Keep the feed gas dry
- Monitor the oxygen supply (Oxy has a live oxygen analyser)
Matching concentrator and generator
The concentrator should supply what the generator needs, with a margin. We size the two together, so they work as one system.
